Perjeta with Herceptin and taxol second time round

Has anyone had Perjeta with taxol and herceptin after having had treatment with taxol and herceptin only first time round? After DCIS diagnosis November 2013 had bilateral mastectomy and no treatment even though HER2+ and high grade DCIS. Is this normal? November 2015 diagnosed with stage 4 BC with liver, bone, cervical mets (no new tumours in breast or lymph nodes!!!) Had taxol and herceptin for 6 months Dec 2015 to May 2016. After treatment all mets were below 1cm so continued with just herceptin from May 2016 til August 2017. August 2017 diagnosed with BC brain met. Removed in surgery. PET scan showed increase in number and size of mets in liver so started taxol, herceptin and Perjeta October 2017. Perjeta indications say it can only be used if haven’t had chemo before. My doctor is insistent that it is fine to be using Perjeta second time round with chemo. Has anyone done this? Also how long did herceptin keep the Mets at Bay? I.e. no growth in size or number? Same question for after herceptin/Perjeta/taxol treatment?

Hi Ricci,
Perjeta and Herceptin together seems to be standard of care these days. I think it is fine second time round, though in Australia it is not necessarily funded for second line. Are you having Taxol again because you had a good response? Hard to say how long these treatments keep the mets at bay, as responses are so individual.
Best wishes for successful treatment.... Pam

Re: Perjeta with Herceptin and taxol second time round

At my first Dx, I had TCH only. When I was re-Dx'd in 2015, I was put on THP. Mets reduced so T was dropped and I have been on HP ever since. Things are still looking stable for me.

As far as I know, this is standard of care as both my local oncologists and my oncologist at Dana Farber recommended the same treatment.
