JOY, HAVE YOU HEARD OF THIS for Liver Mets????
Joy and others
I attended a seminar last night with some very promising new approaches at attacking cancer cells. Right now they are targeting Liver and recurrent breast chest wall cancer only...it is using lisolipid-thermo-sensitive liposomal targeted delivery of Doxorubicin . The company that has developed this is Celsion and it is teemperature sensitive liposomal doxorubicin (Thermodox) together with hyperthermia via special ultrasound...that way larger doses of the drug are attached to the fat cell, given IV and them heated delivering the drug to a specific area...so far 100% of the patients have responded positively with no side effects and 33% showed a complete clinical response. They expect it to be able to be used in ALL cancers, and mets, even brain mets in the future. The clinical trial recruiting right now is at Duke I believe...Trial ID# NCT00617981 from www.clinicaltrials.gov The clinical contact is Dr. Nicholas Borys 443-259-4888 They will be doing a presentation at San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium this year. The company develloping this is www.celsion.com Hope this helps |

Sounds promising Sheila! Were results with folks who already tried other approaches? Can chemo naive participate? Will it work in a diffuse, multiple met situation or only on a single, easily targetable met?
