Arizona Voters " Overwhelmingly " pass Right To Try
Arizona becomes the first State where the voters directly approved Right To Try - they didn't listen to the un-informed " scare tactics " of the opposition . We praise our friend Tracy - whose mothers' struggle to try for TDM-1 is told here :
http://www.kvoa.com/news/voters-may-...pproved-drugs/ The drugs have gone through basic safety tests , and now with RTR will not face FDA red -tape delays . The companies often pick up the costs of " compassionate use " - they know they have a responsibility to provide potentially life - saving medicines to pts waiting up to 10 yrs for Slow FDA approval. Especially for those drugs like palbociclib that are on a so -called " fast track " ( since last Spring , 2013 - some " fast ' track ) . This drug and many others are not available to most citizens of this country , who live far from the small, slow trials . Can't wait to testify for the next State Right To Try ! |

Phil
Wonderful news. Im with you on this subject. A drug called Movantik was recently approved. It is used to treat opiate use induced constipation. This is a big problem with cancer patients who need chronic opiate therapy. The approval specifically reads "Movantik is approved for non cancer opiate induced constipation. In other words if you are a cancer patient on narcotics and develop intractable constipation, the insurance companies wont pay for it. Because of the wording of the approval using Movantil to treat opiate constipation in cancer patients becomes"experimental." What sheer nonsense. Saving insurance companies money to please their lobby should not play any part in the drug approval process. What should be science has degenerated into politics. Paul |

Re: Arizona Voters " Overwhelmingly " pass Right To Try
Phil, Arizona voters considered this issue a "no brainer". Now it would be nice if this logic could "immediately" be implemented in the policies and directions coming from the FDA.
