Anyone Had Blood Pressure Go Up on Herceptin?

I just came from the cardiologist where I had my quarterly Echo to check LVEF. It is fine at 59%. But my blood pressure is seriously elevated over what it normally is. I take blood pressure meds and have for the last ten years or so, but somewhere between my last Echo and now, my blood pressure has gone haywire. Does anyone know if Herceptin can aggravate high blood pressure? I have my three week Herceptin infusion tomorrow and I'm a bit concerned about getting it. The cardiologist said that he has not heard that Herceptin would do this but I trust what you ladies have to say. Mary Ann

Mary Ann, I just looked it up and it states right in the 1st paragraph that it can cause high blood pressure. I know with me I had low blood pressure.

Here is a link.

Hi Vicki, thanks for doing the research. I can only find one case in the archives on this board where someone complained of very high blood pressure while on Herceptin. I wonder if it is a rare SE? My cardiologist says he does not think Herceptin would do this but I would imagine he is not intimately familiar with the drug. I am going to try to delay my Herceptin treatment that is scheduled today until I can get to the bottom of the problem. Thanks so much for your reply! Mary Ann

Mary Ann, were you able to get the treatment delayed?

Are you taking Herceptin weekly or every 3 weeks?

Maybe if they infuse it at a slower rate?

I had mine every week, and had it infused over hour.

Hi Vicki, Yes, they delayed my treatment for a week. In the meantime, my cardiologist adjusted my blood pressure meds and is checking my blood pressure every other day. It was down to almost my normal today ... but still no idea why the big spike. I am going to ask to go back on the weekly Herceptin (have been on the three weekly since the end of the Taxotere and Carboplatin. Thanks for checking in with me. Mary Ann
