bowel obstruction

Anyone had a bowel obstruction from breast cancer spread to abdomen? I can't leave hospital until my bowel is unobstructed, also can't have any chemo until I'm on my feet and out o hospital. They also don't want to operate because of cancer.. am I going to die in here?

Deb,

That sure is frustrating. Are the doctors doing anything to take care of the bowel obstruction? Any possibility to use radiation on the area? Please get hold of your primary doctor and any other specialists that have treated you and ask for their advice. They might know something/someone that your oncologist might have overlooked.

I'm sending you good vibes.

DEBSING -- first I am so sorry you are going through this ordeal. And I get that's it's really scary and I know that look from those who are coming to you that says, You're a dead woman. I'm all too familiar with that.

I just KNEW they were wrong. Super compassionate pp who just don't get what it's like to be on this side of those eyes.

You say you have a blockage. Have you been told that specifically? Meaning your bowels/intestines are blocked and you can't poop? Are they giving you enemas and meds to unblock you?

I'm confused, cause then you say no one will drain your ascites. That's a whole other issue. Is your belly bloated? Is a gastro doc conferring with you? Is it liver related? Does it involve pancreatitis?

Are you getting answers? It doesn't sound like it. Do you need a 2nd independent oncological opinion? That's what I'm thinking.

I pray for your physical and emotional relief.

Are they doing tests? Taking xrays? Getting to the root cause of your symptoms?

Sending you hugs and the strength to take charge of this situation as best you can.

Do you have someone close to you advocating for you? If not, YOU must participate in this process and find out what is precisely going on with your body.

Please let us all know how you're doing, cause your Sisters truly care about you!

LOVE,
ANDI

I'm going to post this in your other thread too, cause I really want you to hear what I have to say...

Another cheerleader here for you debsing.. Andi is right, keep pushing for more answers and more specialists - is there a family member who can advocate for you - or better yet a hospital appointed patient advocate?

keep us posted.

all the best

Re: bowel obstruction

Debsing, firstly please don't eat the junk they feed in hospitals. Do you have anyone who can bring you green salads, clean water and Healthy food. What prior treatments have you had? Why is your bowel blocked? Don't give up, it is scary, but you can be strong and get through this. One step at a time. I echo everyone else, and wonder who is supporting you, who is assisting you with asking the right questions? Please reach out to all of us, the more information you give us, the easier it will be for us to help you. Sleep well and let your body do what it does best, heal.. think about that blockage clearing, overcome the fear and think of the love we are all sending to you and the healing prayers, and let us know how you are...
Hugs
Fern

Re: bowel obstruction

Deb, I am concerned at the apparent lack of communication or information from your staff. You have a right to know what's going on and what the plan is. As Andi and others said get another opinion if you can. And find an advocate for yourself And try to be the squeaky wheel. Keep the faith

Hi Deb

So sorry you are going through this. I concur with the rest
of our sisters it seems you need answers from the medical
staff. Do you have anyone who can act as your advocate!
It will be a tremendous help to you during this difficult
time. Keeping you in my prayers.

Love,

Adriana

Re: bowel obstruction

Debsing, I too am agreeing with Andrea who had wonderful suggestions. The more information you have from professionals in medicine, will help concerning your bowels and plan of action, which will vary on your route causes. I would think your internist and oncologist should help you sort some things out along these lines and offer you help. Praying for you to hang in there and keep asking these questions to your docs and or ask for second opinions from other internists/oncologists possibly. You have my prayers!!
