10 years - one decade - since brain mets diagnosis
This milestone came to my mind today as I learned of the daughter of a friend having surgery for invasive breast cancer.
10 days from now marks the date of my Gamma Knife treatment. And, yes I was in the process of becoming a dex-crazed, sleepless in Seattle, babbling brook of a wife. That drug was the worst of the whole experience! I did not do anything extraordinary to treat my brain mets - just had Gamma Knife on the two places. For my case that was enough to clear the cancer that settled in my brain. As well, I was still on Herceptin for an undetermined length of time. Hope this post will ease the minds of those here who are just learning they have joined the brain mets club. |

Re: 10 years - one decade - since brain mets diagnosis
Wow Steph thank you SO MUCH for sharing that!!!! You really made my day and it does really, really help ease my mind. I am now 10 days from my brain mets diagnosis after seizure and my zaps are next week. I am also in WA state, up in Whatcom county. If you hear any big foot reports coming from this area over the weekend, know that it is probably just me on a dex rampage!! This stuff is the worst. Thanks again for sharing this, you made my load much lighter today!

Re: 10 years - one decade - since brain mets diagnosis
Congrats Stephanie and it's a beautiful brain! Great also that you didn't suffer any loss of balance or verbal or social skills. I have one friend who had a non-cancerous tumor removed and she's having problems with memory and headaches. it's been a year.
hope to see you and Emile back here sometime. stay well love sarah |

Re: 10 years - one decade - since brain mets diagnosis
Keep on keeping on! Glad things worked on the Gamma knife. It has a really good rate of success, but that did not happen for Nina. May you continue to serve as the beacon of what should happen for those with good care when they find CNS involvement.
