Forum for localized mets treatments

It seems a lot of sisters are being treated for mets successfully with local treatments. On the other hand, it seems a lot of sisters have questions about these treatments as well.
Cryo, cyberknife, gammaknife, RFA, a lot of oncs are not supportive of these treatments and we need to support ourselves. Is it feasible for us to have a forum devoted to these procedures or should it go under my healthcare team? Just a thought.

Re: Forum for localized mets treatments

Kim,

I chose a local treatment for my lung met. My brain met was standard of care for the size of my tumor and the position: surgery, followed by targeted radiation. But even that varies, with women having only targeted radiation under the same circumstances.

It seems that many of us want as many options as possible to treat our metastatic tumors. I often wonder whether local treatments in combination with chemo would have a better results, but it takes a lot of trials to find out.

Do not forget high-frequency focused ultrasound (still in trials but it works) http://her2support.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=48695
