Celebrating 2 years (and 1 week!)

Hello, everyone!

I was away from home on my 2 year cancerversary (Dec. 20) and didn't have internet access.

But better late than never.

My tumor was found on routine mammogram October 2006. I had a lumpectomy and 10 lymph nodes removed on December 20, 2006.

I had a chest port put in and started chemo in January 2007. I finished a year of Herceptin in April 2008.

Thanks to all of the HER2 women on this site for your warmth and support!

Congrats Hazel Joyce - I also just had my 2 year cancerversary ... My tumour was found during breast reduction surgery in Oct. 2006, I had my MRM on Dec. 18, 2006.
Pretty much the same schedule as you for the chemo and Herceptin.
May you have many more NED cancerversaries!!

all the best

To you 2-year gals, HazelJoyce and Caya,

This time frame is a big one both psychologically and as a marker for upping your chances of staying disease free.

Taking a year of Herceptin really lengthens the treatment time, but the trade-off for the rest of your life should leave no question. You have made the most of this time and now the time is to concentrate on healing and regaining as close to your "old" self as possible.

Congratulations! And we will see you at the 5-year mark!

Congratulations!! I was diagnosed the same day as you and followed the same schedule. I did have 17 cancerous lymph nodes out of 17, but so far, so good. Just went in today for my mammogram so let's hope everything looks good!
