Tamoxifen Gripe..

I have every intention of calling my onc on Monday but in the meantime...
....can I please just gripe about tamox? My muscles and joints ache, my left side tingles, my chest is tight and at times I am very short of breath....(sounds like a heart attack...geez...)
...all side effects of tamox which I have been taking faithfully every day for the past month.
Oh...and boy am I moody.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does it go away? Is there something else I can take?
Thanks
Leah

Re: Tamoxifen Gripe..

I have been on it for 7 months and the hot flashes and joint pain has not gone away. And now my chest feels tight too. I called my onc and she recommended I take tamox before going to bed instead of in the morning. I did that last night and have suffered through hot flashes during the day today. It's annoying. Wish I had better things to say but I don't and am frustrated that my period never came back, I have zero sex drive, over heat at a drop of a hat and move like a 90 year old woman. And I have 9 more years of this. Yippee.

Thanks europa. I don't have hot flashes, and I do take it at night. Bet my onc will say same as yours. As I am only 5% ER+ I am having a hard time thinking I have to take this for so long. gripe....gripe...gripe...

Re: Tamoxifen Gripe..

Ladies, as someone who was on tamoxifen for 4.5 years, then an AI for 5 years, let me say that tamoxifen was the pits.

My internist told me to take a baby aspirin (81mg) a day, plus I took fluid pills every other day. It definitely helped with my achy legs plus fluid retention. Minimal hot flashes since I had already gone thru menopause. I also think that my internist had her own personal relationship with bc.

Griping is okay, of course! We all have a right to gripe

Best

Janis
