Ladies with Lung mets-Calling out!

Just hoping those with this type of mets could say what drugs they are on, how long they have had the mets, and is anyone NED Thanks Ceesun

Hi-Ceeson-
I had three lung mets three years ago- herceptin and xeloda cleared them up.I was NED and went off all drugs. Now I have a few more and also between my lungs. I am taking herceptin, femara and zometa. God Bless, Cathy

I had lung mets show up in 2004 after I had a heart attack. They did a CT scan preparing me for heart surgery and found the mets. I was on femara, navelbine and herceptin for 6 months or so, then herceptin and femara for 15 months. I am still on femara, but have been NED for the past two years.I finally had the heart surgery in May of 2006 and am doing well. Now plueral effusion and something else showed up on my last PET/Ct scan a couple of months ago. A Bronchoscopy shows no malignancy but the doctors would like to do a needle biopsy of the lung to double check. At the moment I have declined but may change my mind. I have another CT scan scheduled for June and if something worrisome is still showing up will definitely have the biopsy, if I don't decide to have it earlier. I had three small nodules in my left lung in 2004 which we would not have found until too late, except for the heart attack. Not too many people can say a heart attack saved their life, but I can! Being her2 this time, I probably would not have survived very long if we hadn't found the mets. I had BC first in my right breast in 1984, had a bilateral mastectomy because the left one also showed some possibility of cancer, then had mets to my spine in 1990. I had been so long NED after that , I would not even have thought about cancer mets showing up again except for the heart attack. Hope you do well with your mets---there are more things available now to fight with than ever before. I believe cancer may not be curable, but it is certainly controllable. I think of it much like diabetes. One can live a long life with it by being vigilant and being aware of new treatments. There is no better place than this website to keep on top of it all, and meet others who are fighting too and understand. Hang in there! Hugs, Tricia

I was diagnosed in December 05 with 2 small lung mets. After 4 months of Taxotere, Xeloda, and Herceptin (all given at the same time) I was NED. It will be a year NED in April. I remain on Herceptin indefinately, take it weekly..sherryg683

I had 4 micro lung mets spots in Aug '05. Also had one in an under arm node and 3 in chest nodes. That was my opportunity to get Herceptin... so we did Carboplatin/Taxol/Herceptin every 3wks for 6 months. Then Herceptin only with NED for 6 months until we found the 3 micro mets show up again in the chest nodes last Aug'06. Now I am on Taxol/Herceptin until the cows come home or until we need to change to something else. So far it is keeping me stable!

I progressed earlier on taxotere/herceptin, so for lung mets i was on xeloda/tykerb, then doxil/avastin/herceptin and now navelbine/ avastin/herceptin.

Take care,

I recurred in December of 06 with 2 small lung mets. I am currently on Navelbine and Herceptin weekly. So far I have been responding to treatment.

I have 3 spots on my right lung. I started a trial with Irinotecan (sp?), erbitux and carboplatin. My her status is borderline so I can't have herceptin or Tykerb. Will have a pet scan next week to determine effectiveness.

I had heaps of lung mets and a few bone mets in November 2001. I went onto Taxol, Herceptin and Aredia but after 11 weeks, although there was no clinical evidence of the mets the doctors recommended that I continue forever. As I could no longer stand the side effects of Taxol,I droppped it and continued with Herceptin weekly till August 2005. Since then have been on 3 weekly. I have continued to get better and better and fitter and fitter, although some Herceptin side effects.

Best Wishes
Annlyn
