7 years stage IV
 

Now celebrating! I haven't updated for a while, but a bone scan last November seemed to show new activity. My oncologist wasn't too concerned as my cancer has been very slow moving, so we just changed from Tamoxifen to Letrozole. Many of you would know that resulted in more hot flushes (world's longest menopause) and joint pain. Rescanned this week and apparently all still stable, so will continue with the Herceptin.
Feeling very relieved and fortunate!

I must say that is great news and encouraging for me. I too am on Letrozole along with Ibrance for mets to lungs currently all resolved. As I said on a string (14 years and back in lungs) there is always something new and Ibrance is being used by some Her2+ who are hormone positive. Something to keep in mind as a potential back up plan.

Wow! Pam, I forget that you are Stage IV b/c you are such a positive person and thriving! I had to re-read your signature to refresh my memory. You have been on an amazing journey. What an inspiration you are to all of us, especially to the newly diagnosed! I am so glad your last scan was stable and you are tolerating the A.I. They are tough on the joints for sure! Here's to a long lifetime of stable scans!

I'm wondering.....being on Letrozole do you think it would be a good idea to take something for the bones like actonel or xgena or whatever? This especially since we will always be under some treatment.

Hi Cathy,
I am on Zometa for the bones - was Osteopaenic (?) before the stage IV diagnosis. Bone density actually improved a bit with several years of Xgeva. However, there are problems with long term use and now only every 3 months. Yes, letrozole is damaging, but acceptable risk on the scale of things, I guess.

Thanks for all the good wishes - nice to know we are part of a community. Maybe I never would have wanted to be a part of this thing, but am always inspired by the support offered here.
Dawn, are you still on just Herceptin? You just might be achieving hero status! I hope Geelong is getting a bit of a sea breeze at the moment - with several more days of 35+, I am melting in Melbourne!

Yes, still on Herceptin only, coming up to 8 years!

A little sea breeze here, but still sooo hot! 🌞 🍦 Good ice cream weather 😊

I'm almost 12 years stage 4 so try to catch up with me!! Also, you might want to take advantage of recently approved Herceptin as a shot!! NO more infusions. Congrats on the 7 years...keep going :)
