I used Wild Yam cream (suggested by my onc) and it worked wonders! Used it for about a week to 10 days and no problems since. It was a cream I got at a local health food store. Cost about $23.00 but it was worth it. Was told to rub it on inside of forearms or abdomen.

I'm Her2+ with dbl mast. IDC and DCIS - 4x DD A/C

I recently heard of cinnamon as helping with hot flashes. I think you can buy it in capsule form. I don't know how much you are supposed to eat/take for it to help. I thought I would try to put it in muffins, etc.

AbbyDawg, I love your picture of your dog!! I have a 2 year old collie named Mickey who looks a lot like yours!

Started progesterone dose

Well started out with the lowest dose of progesterone to combat really dreadful hotflashes.

So far after three days, there seems to be a positive effect. According to some of the literature - this drug might be able to reduce the "flashes" by up to 80%! Managed to get two decent nights sleep - and woke up feeling alert. The first time in a few months!

The doc said it would take about 3 months for the full effect to take place. Currently, if I were to guess, it's cut them back by about 50%. Hopefully there will be progression on that figure over time.

I am er neg.

I take Megace (a synthetic progestin -female hormone- that acts similar to the natural hormone progesterone) and I don't get hot flashes. I went off of it for a few weeks and the hot flashes came back. Needless to say, I'm back on it!

For All Us Hot Chicks...

AS THE QUEEN OF HOT FLASHES (24 YRS WORTH) I MUST PUT MY 2 CENTS IN HERE.

I HAVE READ DR. JOHN LEE'S BK ON THIS SUBJECT, AS WELL AS DR. GRAEME WILLIAMS. WHAT I LEARNED IS -- DON'T TAKE SYNTHETIC ANYTHING. *NATURAL* PROGESTERONE ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT INCLUDE -- WILD YAMS! MY ENDROCRINOLOGIST AGREES AND SAYS THAT THE REASON IS THAT OUR BODIES CANNOT NATURALLY DISGEST THE ENZYMES IN THIS.

I HAVE BEEN USING PROGESTERONE CREAM, ALL NATURAL, NOT SYNTHETIC, SINCE LAST JANUARY, WITH REMARKABLE RESULTS. ON INNER ARMS (IN TINY DOSAGES) FOR 27 DAYS. OFF FOR 3 DAYS. THE THEORY BEING THAT THE FLASHING COMES FROM UNOPPOSED ESTROGEN. WE ARE NOT PRODUCING THE PROGESTERONE WE ONCE DID.

I AM POST MENOPAUSAL. I AM ER/PR-. I TAKE EVENING PRIMROSE OIL ADJUNCTIVELY (RECOMMENDED AND APPROVED BY MY ONCOLOGIST/NUTRITIONIST) -- FOR ME. I TAKE 1,000 MG EA A.M. AND I -- SOMETIMES -- HAVE TO ADD ANOTHER 500 MG. I LIVE LIKE A NORMAL PERSON NOW. NO MORE SUFFERING, DRIPPING WET, RED-FACED AND FEELING LIKE I AM TRAPPED IN MY BODY. THOUGH I'M STILL HOT AND A BIT CLAMMY, I MUST ADMIT. I'LL TAKE WHAT I CAN GET.
