Port's Out!!
I had my port out yesterday. It feels great! I feel like maybe now I can start to believe this is over. Almost 2 years of treatment for Stage I. Thank God for the care that I had and for the support I've had from the members of this board. BERTA

Congratulations! What was the procedure like? I still have my port in, even though my treatment ended in 2003! I'm just superstitious about having it taken out, I guess, plus it's convenient for blood draws. Now I'm thinking that having it out is a good idea, since I don't want to risk getting it infected.

Congratulations!! I'm looking forward to having mine removed as soon as I finish my year of Herceptin. Hopefully, nothing will go wrong during the year. I just can't stand to touch the port as it's just right beneath my skin and feels very strange.

Bo Berta, Go Berta!
I'm SO happy for you. I get MINE out 9/1...whew. BUT, the fights not over. We have a LOT of work to do to find a cure for our brothers and sisters who's fight continues. Take care and God bless.

I had my port removed when I quit the first onc that I had and never had one put back in when i started the chemo again with the second onc. With mine the surgeon went back in the same place he did the first time and took it back out. That's the only scar i really have from my surgeries.

Audrey: The procedure was easy. It was done in my surgeon's office. He numbed it and I didn't feel anything. Its a little sore, but nothing bad. I went to work the next morning and probably could have gone back that afternoon! It only itches now with the stitches dissolving. After all we've been through, having the port removed is a piece of cake! BERTA
