NICE in UK refuses Tykerb

Looks like the UK wont be getting Tykerb on the NHS. See http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/lif...cle6884927.ece

Hi
Looks like we will be having to go through the whole saga of yet another petition and lobbying our Members of Parliament AGAIN. As if having BC isn't hard enough without bean counters deciding which treatments we can have. Most breast oncologists here are extremely frustrated that there is a drug available that would help but they can't prescribe it.

If you go the petition route I strongly suggest it is done on the UK Government website for petitions which will hold much more sway in the UK, only thing is that it is restricted to UK nationals but if we want to overturn NICE here then we need UK support for any petition to be meaningful. Its great to have support worldwide but for the UK Government to take any notice we need UK nationals to support it.

Hi unregistered
We did the original petition on the 10 Downing St petitions website as well as lobbying a number of MP's nationally. I am also aware that leading breast oncologists from The Marsden and The Christie submitted robust responses and reasons why NICE should approve this drug. It seems however that this has had little effect!!
Any suggestions?

That's not very NICE. Ok, maybe it is. So are they saying all the other countries that approved it aren't NICE? I guess they are NICEer.
