(Ivanhoe Newswire) -- There may soon be a new option for patients with advanced cancer that has spread throughout the body.

Researchers at City of Hope and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Duarte, Calif. report modified neural stem cells can activate and concentrate chemotherapy drugs mainly at tumor sites so the surrounding normal tissue is relatively unharmed.

"This approach could significantly improve future treatment options for patients with metastatic cancer," reports lead researcher Karen Aboody, M.D., from City of Hope. Does anyone know how close this research is to Clinical Trials?

I'm bumping up this article to see if anyone has any information regarding neural stem cells and Dr Aboody's research.

It sounds so promising - does anyone know how close it is to clinical trials?

Regards,

Amy
