Alice what a beautiful tribute to such a compassionate and helpful her2 hero. One of the last things Mom told me is she wanted to be remembered for who much she helped others even through this terrible disease. So your tribute is very befitting to her memory of how she lived. I am humbled to know how much dear Sheila meant to all of you here on this site. She will be truly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.

Lovely tribute, my heart aches at all the lovely ladies including Sheila that we have lost recently they had been part of my life since 2006 when I was diagnosed and they have shown so much courage and compassion, I am saddened and send my best to their families and friends. They fought a thousands wars.. may they be at peace now

Re: My Tribute to Sheila

Thank you. It's beautifully written and poignant.

Sheila lived over 9 years after her stage iv diagnosis and, had the timing been different, with Herceptin available to early-stage patients, she might not have recurred at all. Of course we'll never know.

People like Sheila are one of the reasons I volunteered to be in a trial. The combination of Tykerb and Herceptin has been approved for people who have been on a number of other treatments, but not for people who are haven't had a lot of other regimens. Maybe it will stave off brain mets. Maybe it will produce long-term results. I could get Tykerb prescribed off-label, but this way I have contributed biopsy samples and am a source of other data.

Sheila set such a fantastic example of grace under fire and of loving and caring for others. She was always "kinder than necessary." She showed us how to live.

Alice,

Oh! I love, love, love the photo of Brenda, Sheila, and Tiptoe! Thank you for this wonderful post. I feel the same as you regarding both these beautiful warriors! Tiptoe sure was in good company that evening!

Blessing to you!

Alice - You have so eloquently voiced what so many have felt. Sheila was a beacon whose light could be found by those who looked.

Now her light shines from a different direction.
