Carla's Story
Your story is almost like mine. I discovered my tumor in Nov05, had bilateral masectomy Jan06, diagnosed Stage IV shortly after.
I will be doing chemo for several more months and herceptin for as long as they will let me. My doctor says the chemo is working. |
Cosmicdust,
I am taking part in a clinical trial for carboplatin (carbo), doxorubicin (doxil), and hercepin. All the drugs have been used with good results but never in this combination. I prayed over my decision on taking part in this trial, so I know that I made the right one. I exercise, work, and eat healthy. My exercise consists of aerobics, yoga, walking, and toning. I use to run, but I no longer have the stamina for it. The only vitamin I take is Lysine, which is to help with severe mouth ulcers (mucositis). I also drink Dan Active every day to help with my immune system. I still have my hair, and I only get nauseated a couple of days after my treatment. Other than being tired some, I don't feel bad. My doctor says that I am Stage IV, but mentally I refuse to believe it. I know I will eventually need to take disability, but for now I am still working. I just keep praying that they will find a cure for this. It is so stressful. I get chemo today, and I am already dreading it. Take care. |
