SoCalGal
I’m am sad to share that So Cal Gal passed away this afternoon. I have shared Flori’s daughter’s Facebook post below.
Flori Smith 10/14/57-03/23/23 💛 I'm so sad to share that my mom passed away this afternoon, peacefully at home with my brother and I, after fighting a 16 year fight with stage IV breast cancer. Despite everything she faced, she was very clear that she never wanted anyone to say that she "lost her battle", because in her mind, when she thinks of her life, she absolutely won. And while I'm so glad she felt that way, it's also really those of us who got to know her, spend time with her, and love her who were the real winners. Details about a memorial to come. xo Gina |
Re: SoCalGal
Gina, my heart hurts for you, your brother & the love of her life, Jude. The loss of your precious Mother is an ache felt around the World. She touched so many lives through her craft. She was an Artist in every way imaginable: wordsmith, sculptor, painter, dancer, nurturer....
I will miss those things about her. Peace, Flori, peace. I will forever be grateful for your kindness and encouragement; just Flori being Flori. Cuck Fancer! |
Re: SoCalGal
So sorry to hear this. Flori was special, for sure. I’ll miss her very much. One of our original group.

Re: SoCalGal
So sorry to hear about the passing of Flori.
I met her for lunch a few years ago in LA. We had a wonderful time and she was so warm. |
Re: SoCalGal
Ah, Flori Flori Morning Glory....
I have not been on the board in months, maybe years, and I open today to this sad news. You were an amazing woman, fighter and friend. Cuck Fancer! |
Re: SoCalGal
I am so sorry to read this. Flori was so very much alive. She seemed to be indestructible. I'm really angry that this sneaky disease got her in the end.
