The cross-link below addresses on-going research at Cedars-Sinai’s Maxine Dunitz Neurosurgical Institute (the "Institute"). Researchers at the Institute have discovered a subset of neural stems that are capable of tracking and carrying anti-cancer gene and immune therapies to migrating brain tumor cells. Their results appear in the May/June issue of the journal Neoplasia.

Keith L. Black M.D. the director of Cedars-Sinai’s Institute and its Division of Neurosurgery as well as the Comprehensive Brain Tumor Program is quoted in the article. Dr. Black is one of the world's preeminent neurosurgeons and he is a member of the HER-2 Support Group advisory board.

Take Away: Neural stem cells which have the ability to track deadly brain cancer cells as they migrate from a tumor to form new satellites are potential transporters to deliver cancer-killing agents.
