Considering second mastectomy?
 

I have been considering having a mastectomy on my left breast for a while, just paranoid I guess. But for the last 2 days I have had redness on my nipple along with pain and a very clear lump with it, it just appeared out of nowhere. I will see the doctor tomorrow. Freaking out!. Now more than ever I think I should have it removed. Any thoughts?

Hi Fran,

I understand why you would be freaked out but talk to your doctor and see what they say tomorrow. Having said that, when I was diagnosed I only had the cancer in one breast and it was so small that it couldn't be felt, even when they knew where it was and I had a double mastectomy. I have no regrets about my decision but I also know it didn't come with a guarantee. If you think that's what you want to do, discuss the pros and cons with your doctor tomorrow to come up with the best plan for your specific situation. Good luck and let us know how things go. Hugs

Hy Lucy. Thanks for the tip. I will ask the Oncologist about pros and cons after they find out what I have in my left breast. Thanks sincerely.

I had a double mastectomy and had bc only on one side, no regrets at all! Good luck with the biopsy....I hope you get good results:)

hi fran. i actually pushed hard for a propry left mastectomy. my breasts were always dense and my stage!111C right bc literally popped out of no where.
the docs finally agreed and my report came back loaded with atypia and hyperplasia.
never regretted my decision to get rid of both boobbies
