Better odds if stage 4 at dx??
I seem to recall clinical studies that showed slightly higher odds of full remission if one is stage 4 at diagnosis. I cannot find my file with supporting info. Wondered if anyone here can recall or has this info. I've googled myself blind :)
Seems like it makes sense since disease would not be resistant to any prior therapy lines... |
Re: Better odds if stage 4 at dx??
I think Lani posted something about women who are "exceptional responders" to Herceptin, which may have included de novo status.

Here's one study: Survival differences among women with de novo stage IV and relapsed breast cancer

Re: Better odds if stage 4 at dx??
I don't have the study, but I remember reading about it at some time in the past. What I took away was it wasn't about odds of complete remission but just longer overall survival. And "longer" wasn't a very impressive span of time.
