New Idea to prevent B/P and Needle Sticks
1 Attachment(s)
My sister just had her "Swapping Out" procedure of removing the tissue expanders and replacing them with silicone implants...she had nodes removed on both sides so they always use her legs for B/P, and her port for IV's etc....loved the sock like sleeves that someone came up with, soft, latex free, state the purpose, one size fits all, and they are pink!!! What a great idea and big reminder to those taking care of you in surgery or on the floor!

Good idea, Sheila. Never mind those taking care of me, I could use one. Between my right breast and left lung, I always have to think twice about remembering that it's my left arm for BP.

Great idea and so simple. Thanks for sharing. Where do you get those?

I too forget which arm everytime! I think b/c nurses always go for the left which is my bad arm.

What a simple but neat idea!!! They seem to always go for my left arm too Vicki, which is my bad arm. This would be really good for those nights in the hospital when they "sneak attack" you for your vital signs, and you aren't all the way awake.

Re: New Idea to prevent B/P and Needle Sticks
I just had a simple procedure to replace the stents in my ureters & the asked the pre-op nurse for tape or a marker to write on my own arm "No Sticks/BP's" - which I've done many many times before.
She brought me one of those arm sox instead and all I could think of is "WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT???" I think it's a relatively new item, but I hope hospitals/clinics etc will start carrying them. |

Thanks for posting this Sheila! I am so glad that somone came up with this idea. Sure beats the the black marker on the arm thing....but that was what I too always had to do when in a hospital.
