I know the pharmacology of the drugs. The big one with Tykerb is diarrhea. When they were doing clinical tests on Lapatanib (Tykerb) it was hard to do a double blind study as it was quite obvious who was taking the active drug.

Xeloda is a prodrug that forms 5flurouracil in the body and the main side effect seems to be the hand foot syndrome. Im sure others will respond in more detail.

Re: Tykerb + Xeloda side effects and how to handle

I am starting Xeloda with Tykerb on Monday, the meds were delivered to my house today, but we are going out tomorrow night, so I don't want to start with diarrhea. The biggest side affect apparently is HFS (Hand Foot Syndrome) so my ONC told me to put cream on my hands and feet starting now. I did some research and Working Hands seems to be the best choice, you can buy it at Amazon and apparently at Home Depot or Lowes too.
Fatigue and nausea are also mentioned, as is diarrhea. Those seem to be the biggest SE's. There seems to be some disagreement over taking B6, so I am still researching that.
Good luck, and keep us updated.
Fern
