My naturopath likes to make humor part of every visit. After he takes care of the patient's medical issues he asks his patients for a joke. If his patient doesn't tell him one he tells his patient a joke.
Here is his latest joke !!
"What is a bear without teeth?
Answer: "A gummy bear !!!"
Compliments of Dr. Jack Burke in Hawaii.

There are times to be extremely serious about our cancer experiences and then there are times to laugh at our experiences in life, including some of the wierd personal experiences we have as cancer patients. How we handle these experiences emotionally can make all the difference in the world.
I really enjoyed the "You know you are a cancer patient when forum" at breastcancer.org. Check it out if you have time.

In Memoriam

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey", died peacefully at age 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

He'd 'just' passed away? [I know - it's just a 'joke' :)]

According to Wikipedia:

Larry LaPrise (Roland Lawrence LaPrise, born: 11 November 1912 in Detroit, Michigan, died: 04 April 1996 in Gooding, Idaho) at one point held the U.S. copyright for the song Hokey Pokey.
LaPrise wrote the song in the late 1940s for the après-ski crowd at a club in Sun Valley, Idaho. The song was first recorded by his group the Ram Trio (with Charles Macak and Tafit Baker) in 1949. They were awarded U.S. copyright in 1950.
After the group broke up in the 1960s, LaPrise worked for the Post Office in Ketchum, Idaho.

The authorship of the Hokey Pokey is disputed, with European songwriter Jimmy Kennedy claiming to have written the original (entitled Cokey-Cokey) during WWII. Robert Degan sued LaPrise for copyright infringement of his 1946 The Hokey-Pokey Dance. They settled out of court.

My parents used to go to Sun Valley starting in the very early 50's. The whole family began going around 1960. You can imagine we knew the Hokey Pokey from the time we could toddle around!

Mom and Dad spent a lot of apres ski time at the Ram!
