Live Raw Diet
 
Purchased Mimi Kirks "Live Raw" book. She is vegan and eats a pure raw diet.Very interesting recipes, beautiful photos etc- recommend to anyone who is vegan and wanting to eat a raw diet. Good beauty tips also - natural oils etc to use on skin- 100% Virgin Coconut oil. I have been using it and I have noticed a difference with my skin.

Raw food can be delightful. Thanks for the recommendation.

However, there are many foods that are more digestible and nutritious if they are cooked. Also cooking destroys bacteria that can cause food poisoning or infection. A purely vegan diet is totally lacking in Vitamin B-12, and a B-12 deficiency, though it takes a long time to become symptomatic, is fatal. (B-12 supplements grown on fungus are now available, so there is a vegan solution to that problem.) It's also tough to get enough bioavailable minerals from vegan food.

That being said, it's a great idea to eat more vegetables and less, if any, meat. Meat and dairy, especially industrially-farmed meat and dairy, pose enormous environmental and ethical issues.

Can you tell I'm an ambivalent omnivore?
