This is a cool story. Thanks for bumping it up. I missed it the first time too.

Personally, I don't think it means "no one should ever give up." I think it means we all, ultimately, have to make our own decisions. This amazing woman is strong, active, vital, and a fighter. She wanted treatment for Stage IV, and it is going well for her. That's awesome.

For someone else, with fewer health and psychological assets and more comorbidities, the "standard" advice could well have been the right choice. If "never give up" means spending one's last few months doing nothing but getting cancer treatment, I'm not sure it's worth it.
