never sure where to post this stuff

Hi everyone, I have posted in the main forum about my enrollment in the herceptin dm1 trial and now I'm posting here (I am a Libra after all-just balancing it out). I went to Denver today for my first week's follow up blood work and Zometa. I really didn't ask about the blood work drawn the day I started and don't know much about todays' draws. What I do know is that I have some thrombocytopenia. Which looks like a pretty common side effect. I just hope the platelets rally before I am due for the next dose. Otherwise I feel pretty good. A little tired, but that can be for so many reasons. I had a continuous headache on day 1 through about 4 that I think was related. Have one now, but I feel like it is something else (probably cleaning the house:). So not much of an update, but something to share anyway. If anyone has any experience with platelets improving over 3 week intervals I would love to hear about it.

Thinking of you all.

Joy, my dear, you post ANYWHERE you darn well please!

The thrombocytopenia (I bet we never knew we'd know THAT word when we were in school!) is totally to be expected and rebounds really quickly. Mine bounced way back up by day 15 and have so far always been back in the normal range by day 21. So if you were going to make someone else chop the veggies (since you shouldn't be playing with knives in your delicate state) you better do it this week!

I also had flulike symptoms for about 3 days after my first infusion. Fever, headache, tired. After a few treatments I no longer get the fever or headache but I still do feel tired for a week or 2!

But I think you should stop cleaning the house since I'm sure that's probably giving you a headache.

How are your liver function levels? That's been my biggest problem with the trial, but I am told that I'm unusual (although I prefer the term "special") in that regard.

Put down that cleaning rag. NOW!

Much love
Chris
