Desensitize for allergy to tykerb

I went to the oncologist because I had a very swollen face and itchy hives all over from the tykerb. She wants to set me up with an allergist to see if I can be desensitized to it. I was surprised - I thought she would've just put me back on herceptin, but she said she wants to be able to use the tykerb also. So for now, just xeloda, and more waiting....

Patience has not really been one of my better qualities.

Look on the Tykerb forums and you will probably find some ideas that Tykerb started coming up with back in 2007... they have been good about staying on top of this. Your onc needs you to try these first... and then possibly see a chemo specific dermo if necessary...

Good luck!

Re: Desensitize for allergy to tykerb

The oncologist just called after conferring with an allergist. No way to really desensitize me to Tykerb. They (UPenn) are expecting the TDM1 trial next month. Praying I get in.
