Chemopause

Hello,

I was wondering how long hot flashes typically last for. Also, I wake up almost every night because I feel so hot. I pull off my night cap and I'm actually relieved I don't have any hair. LOL! I am 37 and was not expecting to go through this so early in life. (sigh)

Hi Faith,

Thankfully, for me, the hot flashes didn't last too much longer after finishing up my taxol txs. I'd say 4 mos later, while on herceptin, my cycle came back pretty much the same. In the last few mos. it's been either a couple days ahead of schedule or a few days late. Thankfully, once the cycle restarted, the hot flashes went away! They are really a nuisance! Hang in there!

Hugs,
Lexi

Hi Faith,

My chemopause only last as long as I was on chemo. A few months after chemo ended (not even sure if it was that long) my hot flashes almost ended completely. I was so thankful as they were soooooooooo intense during chemo. I was 45 when diagnosed so menoapause was a ways away yet. I am now 47 and chemo has been finished since Nov. 30, 2005 and the past few months the hot flashes have resumed. Not nearly as intense but hot flashes all the same.

When your chemo is over the hot flashes will probably end shortly there after.

Hang in there. Your doing great.

Has "faith in Him" too :-)

I got my period back about a month and a half after Taxol was done and the hot flashes stopped right before that. I was not glad to have the cramps and the boob tenderness but I would take that over the hot flashes. Just try to breath through them and know that they will not last. I was (and still am) 36 when I went through the most of my chemo.
