blogging about DIEP reconstruction experiences

Hi,

I've started a blog about my experiences with delayed breast reconstruction. I'm getting a DIEP flap reconstruction on July 3 and plan to write about the things I learn as well as the pain and how I like the results, etc. Come on over to visit at http://www.beyond-breast-cancer.blogspot.com

I'd appreciate the support and hope I can share some info that might help others considering their reconstruction options.

Hello,
Make sure they explain the morphine drip to you and where it is placed.
what you can do and can't
I had to blow into a tube every hour to avoid getting pneumonia, plus they put plastic pants on my legs (air cooled!) to avoid thrombosis.
ask about cream or tape to help the scars heal.
the breast will feel totally natural.
Good luck
sarah

Hi Peg,
I too have a blog and have found it very therapeutic to blog about my BC. It helps me and helps others too when they can read about our experiences. Best of luck with your reconstruction.

Peg, it looks like your day is coming up soon. MaryJO just had her DIEP done less then 2 wks ago and is doing fantastic. I had mine done Nov 06 and I could not be happier with the results. I'm sure you will do very well. I would be happy to share with you any of my experiences with the procedure.
Best wishes to you.
Maryanne

Hi Peg,

As "harrie" said, I just went through bilateral DIEP. On June 17th as a matter of fact. I had a very positive experience. Everything went perfectly and my new breasts are beautiful. Honestly, I'm enjoying them WAY more than I thought. I didn't realize I missed them as much as I did.

Anyway, if you have any questions please don't hesitiate to contact me. You can PM me here or just ask in the open, whatever you want. If you want to talk via the telephone that would be fine too.

Your day is fast approaching....asking God to make it "alright and wonderful" for you "sister."

Mary Jo
