Re: Metformin and the mitochondria
Thanks for posting this. Glad there's finally some confirmation.

Re: Metformin and the mitochondria
Good news but frustratingly slow progress in legitimizing this relatively safe and cheap drug as at least a companion to standard treatment.
Other research shows metformin use can prevent ovarian cancer by 40%. Get on with it! And of course..no good news is complete without a hugely misleading headline: A new discovery that cures breast cancer |
Re: Metformin and the mitochondria
This is great news - and something an NP in Canada recommended to me about 5 months ago. I'm gonna hold off for now, but GREAT to hear it's looking like something great to use!

Re: Metformin and the mitochondria
Great news that Rich has been telling us about for ages.
I have just heard that they are looking at using metformin in a stage 1 trial at my centre. Will post if I find out more. Ellie |

Re: Metformin and the mitochondria
My naturopath came across an article about Metformin and cancer and copied it for me to give my M. D. I readthe article before I passed it on. Metformin sounds promising.

Re: Metformin and the mitochondria
There is currently a phase three clinical trial running on this. I'm trying to get more information as it's not at my cancer center. My oncologist decided not to run the trial because of concerns about the health impacts of using metformin in women without diabetes. Has anyone started the trial? I'm wondering how it's going.
I don't even know if I'm eligible, as I'm more than one year from dx and surgery. Here's the link: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01101438 |
