pain under ribs

Hello from New Zealand, for the past month now I have been getting cramp under my left ribs, sometimes I can barely move with the pain, Other times it is like a burning sensation, As it seems to ease overnight and gets worse as the day progresses do you think I am correct in just ignoring it.
Her2 1998, had herceptin 7 times, chemo and radiation.

Re: pain under ribs

Hi Cher,

It could be lots of things, most of them easily fixable, so why suffer? I know you are scared it might be cancer, but if it isn't you are suffering for nothing and if it is, there are lots of treatments that can keep it in check for a long, long time. And during that time a cure may be find.

So don't hesitate if the pain doesn't go away within two weeks: Go see a doctor!

Hugs

Jacqueline

Hi, Cher,
I have a similar complaint. I take Taxol and I have been told by many that it "moves around." I have had a CT scan since the pain and it showed nothing (although I was sure cancer would be found in my ribs). A nurse recommended a heating pad, and I got my old old out of the closet--it works like a charm at night. Also check the position of your chair and desk (or table you sit at) to make sure where you spend the most time in this position, it is properly aligned.

Best ,

Re: pain under ribs

Hi Cher. These pains are always such a worry.I have had a pain in my left leg for quite a while (months and months actually) I had a few falls in the last six months and I thought it probably just a sprain. I went to my family doctor when I initially fell and she didn't seem to think there was a problem. I also figured because of the Femera I always have so many aches and pains so that could be why also. Anyway the pain kept on so we decided to do a bone scan, she felt there would be nothing worrisome on it but we needed to do it. So the last few days I have been waiting for the results and today the secretary called and said the bone scan showed no metastases (yahoo!) but I do have healing from a fractured rib. Holy cow. I did take a tumble in the forest in Victoria in September when my niece took me on a "survivor man hike" (just kidding). Anyway I guess on that fall I did fracture a rib and I didn't even know it. I guess with all my aches and pains I didn't notice it that much. Wow I must have a high pain threshold. Anyway after this long rambling message what I feel is that if the pain persists have it looked at and then you can relax. Take care Lois.

Hi Cher,

If the pain is continuing I'd have it checked, there are many things this could be, possibly even gall stones or something easy to treat, I'd have it checked if only to put your mind at ease and be painfree!
