"O.K., We Found The Cancer" Four Years Ago Today
Four years ago today, I picked up the phone to hear, "O.K., we found the cancer," said the radiologist after pulling in a deep breath to tell me. "You have a lot of work to do." I put down the phone and catapulted into deep, sorrowful cries for my six-year-old.
The radiologist faxed over the test results. Really confusing and scary. HER2+++. Poorly differentiated. Poor prognosis. What a long, strange trip. To life, Karen |

I hear you and the Grateful Dead! Funny how that song will pop into my mind at odd intervals. I have the album, but never need to put it on - the tunes just come on their own.
My experience upon getting that phone call from my surgeon was a little different as I had no small children. Life is never the same after a cancer diagnosis no matter what anyone tries to tell us. In memory of our dear departed Elaine - just keep putting one foot in front of the other. |

Dear Karen,
Congratulations on the 4 years - hope the Navelbine/Herceptin combination is working well. Best wishes.... Pam |
Re: "O.K., We Found The Cancer" Four Years Ago Today
Dear Karen,
I'm with StephN on not needing to actually play Grateful Dead albums, because they're in my head. Keep on keepin' on. It must be extra hard with a young child. But you're still here, and I'm very glad. |

"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming" - Dory, the fish from "Finding Nemo".
Looking for low low low CEA numbers. I remember well the first days of diagnosis. Funny how the terror fades and we learn to face news without that useless emotion. :-) Penny |
