The more I hear about this, the more I feel it is RIGHT. Dr. Samadi is right around the corner from me. I would love to sit down and speak with him. I might call. This man has crazy-good credentials: http://www.northshorelij.com/hospita...david-b-samadi Karen |

Re: CD47 The Game Changer
LOL, everyone! You all just gave me a much-needed belly laugh!
I would call Dr. Samadi for information gathering purposes. He's a prostate man! BUT, he believes in the anti-CD47 and I do, too! The CD47 therapy trial has not started yet. It was pushed to summer due to some tweaking in the method it administers the therapy. Isn't everyone in the Universe calling? Further research shows me that drug makers outside of Stanford are clamoring for a like therapy, so there must be something to it. Remaining hopeful, Karen |

Re: CD47 The Game Changer
Lol and lol, for me, too.
I've no doubt I could get to Samadi (my cousin is a colleague) but Samadi is not doing any trials. Am wondering about scheduled trials at Stanford. Seems like the best bet. Haven't yet done research but ears are wide open. |
Re: CD47 The Game Changer
So this is the response one will likely receive if a letter is sent to Dr. Weissman:
Message from Irving Weissman's Office Re: CD47 Inquiry Thank you for your interest in our research on using anti-CD47 antibodies as a cancer therapy. While we are very excited about the potential of this research, we are unfortunately not able to start human trials for this therapy now. We are projecting that human phase I clinical trials will begin later this year, most likely summer or early fall. We are not enrolling patients at this time and don't yet have information about who will be eligible to enroll. Please keep in mind that the initial clinical trial will be a very small safety trial starting with just one patient and adding more patients slowly as safety is demonstrated. Accordingly, we are advising all patients to continue with the therapies advised by their physicians at this time. At this early stage of testing, we cannot practically or legally administer the treatment outside of the clinical trials. Those who are interested in this experimental therapy are also advised to check our website for current information about clinical trials. When and if clinical trials begin, we will post information about enrollment there: http://stemcell.stanford.edu/ We are proceeding as rapidly as possible, although we know this fact does not make it easier for those who have cancer right now. Many researchers are working nights and weekends to move this along, and our progression toward clinical trials is actually faster than is typical for experimental cancer therapies. Those who are interested in finding current clinical trials in the United States may also find it useful to search the National Institutes of Health Clinical Trials Database: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/search To search for other clinical trials at Stanford, you may search this website: http://med.stanford.edu/clinicaltrials/ Sincerely, Irving Weissman Director, Stanford Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine Ludwig Center for Cancer Stem Cell Research and Medicine |
Re: CD47 The Game Changer
And by the way, this trial will run at Oxford simultaneously. Dr. Weissman said the first person to be cured will be in London, due to less red tape and/or insurance issues.
There you go. Karen |
