Updated results from two of the trastuzumab trials were presented<SUP> </SUP>continuing to demonstrate the value of this therapy for patients<SUP> </SUP>with HER2-positive disease. The FinHER trial evaluated a short<SUP> </SUP>course of trastuzumab, which is currently being compared with<SUP> </SUP>a conventional 1-year duration. Meanwhile, the standard duration<SUP> </SUP>of trastuzumab therapy remains 1 year. The Panel noted that<SUP> </SUP>no results are yet available from the 2-year trastuzumab group<SUP> </SUP>in the HERA trial. Interestingly, a majority of the Panel was<SUP> </SUP>prepared, for selected women, to contemplate trastuzumab with<SUP> </SUP>endocrine therapy but without chemotherapy despite the absence<SUP> </SUP>of clinical trial evidence to support this approach. Finally,<SUP> </SUP>the limited evidence of increased risk among patients with HER2-positive<SUP> </SUP>tumours <1 cm in size without axillary nodal involvement<SUP> </SUP>does not allow definitive recommendation regarding anti-HER2<SUP> </SUP>therapy in this group.<SUP> " </SUP>(emphasis added)
