A/C Dense Dose (4th. and final done) start taxol/herceptin next Friday

I looked around everywhere to see if this had been talked about before because I am sure that it has, so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed many times before.

Okay, here is my question. I just completed my 4th DDose A/C treatment last Friday, but to be honest I was feeling nauseated the day I received it. In other words I never got a break from the nausea. (Yes, my doctor has tried every drug there is to help me) Soooo, does anyone have any idea when they think this nausea will end? I have been told that the Taxol/Herceptin does not cause nausea, I pray that this is true.

Let me know what you think, I am so tired of being sick to my stomach!

Thanks,

Hi Cheryl,

My condolences, as nausea sucks! I was lucky that Emend was my ticket to a nausea-free A/C.

I experienced no nausea (needed no drugs to help me) on taxol/herceptin. Instead of being fatigued for a week, it lasted only a day or two. What was a problem was extreme dehydration. I would actually panic if I forgot to bring a water bottle. I had to use saline nasal sprays, stool softeners and vaseline the inside of my nose before I went to bed.

I didn't wan't to count on taxol being easier and then be let down if it wasn't either. But thankfully it wasn't so bad. I do know of several women that had trouble with neuropathy (I think the chance is lessened with a weekly dose) and you might want to look into supplements that may help (vit b?) I didn't have any luckily.

Good luck! I know 12 treatments may seem like a lot, but it goes by faster than you would think!

Dear Cheryl

I was like you with the dd AC but Taxol did not make me sick. I did get numbness in my legs and fingers but it was not horrific. No nausea though!!!

Feel well. I can relate.

Taxol was much easier for me than A/C. I hope it's the same for you. Let us know.

Cheryl,
I had such bad nausea with the AC that I lost 25 lbs.I had Taxotere and I only vomited twice. My problem was severe neuropathy in my legs and severe fatigue. No chemo is easier than the other for everybody because we all respond different.I have friends that sailed through Taxol like it was nothing.I hope you respond that way,you deserve a break.Good luck and let us know how it goes.Oh yeah, the Taxol is cumalitive so each treatment seems worse. But since you are on weekly it probably won't be until the last couple of weeks.

Other than aches from the taxol I felt great. I never felt nauseated with taxol.

Hope the same for you.

I was so sick on AC even taking the Emend pills, I was still sick. My onc assured me that I would not be sick on my weekly taxol/herceptin. I was not sick. I had some numbness in my toes. My problem was with the decadron given to me as a premed. It would give me a red flush on my face, neck, and chest. I also got a rash after my first infusion but it went away.

Good Luck

Susan

No nausea with Taxol, I felt great until half way thorugh and then the cramping got bad. The last month was not great, (face broke out and leg cramps) but I enjoyed food more than ever. No nausea at all. Skin cleared up as soon as Taxol was done (probably the steroid) and cramps are gone too. I do still have neuopathy in my fingers. Hope it goes away soon.
