Great Article....
I was posting just yesterday how I noticed in my cancer center the majority
of the women having treatment were over 60 +....and doing well with their
treatment. It appears that (at least in my center) that more woman in this
age population are going the route of chemo. I was speaking with a lady
who is 83 (God Bless) and doing extremely well. I was rather surprised considering her age - but then again she had the attitude of a teenager.
I was deeply moved by her.

Thank you for posting this article hopeful...

Jean,

I was interested to read it, because the only family member I am aware of who has had bc was a sister of my dad's, who developed bc at 81 or 82 (she is now 87 and doing fine). When I mention it to my dr's as they take my family history, they just shrug and don't think it means there is a family propensity for it; they just chalk it up to advanced age.

Hopeful,

Since the internet there is so much available information to digest that
the dr. are having a diffiuclt time keeping up with the reading material.
Being the patients that we are - who do our homework the dr's have to really
stay on their toes. I truly believe for the most part the days of the
innocent patient coming into the dr's office and just listening and hanging
onto every word, never questioning (my mother's generation) is long time
gone. There are so many unknown possibilities with breast cancer.

Heck - I often chuckle to myself if someday they say that drinking, eating,
and (I doubt this) smoking....has nothing to do with it. We just don't have all the answers just small parts - that we try to put together and make
the best use of.

But the ladies on this board are unbievable! I am beginning to think we should have a Her2 Day...and somehow all of us get together! Now isn't that a nice thought?

Enjoy
Jean
