Re: Trastuzumab, Everolimus, Exemestane, Pertuzumab

No experience on the 4 together, but I've been on Perjeta, Herceptin and Havalen for about 3 months now. Looks like the cancer has outsmarted those and I think this 4 drug combo will be my next step. I've been on aromasin before and not appreciated the joint pains. From everything I've read Everolimus is horrible- is that true? Any advice? Thanks and good luck.

The first time at 10mg dosage my wife developed lots of unbearable mouth sores that we had to discontinue the treatment. This time around we are trying 5mg, so we'll see how it goes. Please see thread "remedies for mouth sores from everolimus" for info.

I took Everolimus (Afinitor), Exemestane (Aromasin) for six months and was lucky I didn't get any mouth sores.
I hope your wife can tolerate it this time around. And I hope this combination will help your wife. Praying for her improvement.

Thank you Joanne.

Kristin, I hope you the treatment work for you and that you don't get the mouth sores. If you do, mix tumeric with honey and dab it on the sore. This alleviates the pain and speeds up the healing.

Re: Trastuzumab, Everolimus, Exemestane, Pertuzumab

Hi Kristin,

Question? Why are you adding Everolimus to the combo?

My doctor decided against Everolimus he said the studies
done on this drug shows no improvement at all - at least not enough
to go through these mouth sores. If you developed them maybe it
will be a good idea to stop it. Ask you doctor if he's aware of the benefits of
this drug. I'm so fortunate, my doctor is the best in the world, so caring
and supportive of me and my decisions to change treatment plans.
He's my rock.

Glad to hear you are doing well with halaven, just had my first treatment
today along with perjeta. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Take care,

Adriana

Re: Trastuzumab, Everolimus, Exemestane, Pertuzumab

I'm not sure whether this is more widespread, but a friend of mine didn't do well on Everolimus. It caused severe shortness of breath, and other symptoms which I cannot recall at the moment. She also needed blood transfusions, and she had to stop taking it. I think this is a very rare side effect, but as her doc hadn't heard of it, they couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. So please, if you notice any side effects, talk to your doc and insist that s/he researches them. My friend said she could have died from the SE's.

But like I said, they are rare and I've heard good things about its efficacy.

Love

Jacqueline
