This is in honor of our own ElaineM. Your posts are always so sweet and thoughtful. Your words always bring a sense of peace to me as I read them. In honor of Elaine, I would like us all to name a flower, not necessarily our favorite, and share a special memory that we experience every time we see, or smell, that flower. Here's to you, Elaine! Whenever I see a forsythia, I think of my mom. We transplanted and re-rooted many of these over the years, and to this day, every spring when I see one bloom, I think of her.

When I smell roses, I think of MY mom. She had a row planted on the southern wall of our house for years. Didn't do ANYTHING to them (prune, cut them back) and they were the most beautiful, healthy rosebushes in the neighborhood!

When I see or smell Lily of the Valley, I think of my kindergarden teacher, who is now 101 and still going strong...it was always her favorite...imy sisters and I picked her some and took them to her on Mothers Day...she is in a nursing home in another town.

Thank you everyone. I love nature and living things. Rose is my birth flower, so I suppose I am partial to that one, but I enjoy looking at many kinds of flowers, trees, plants, mountains, water, clouds, people and animals, not neccessarily in that order. I love watching babies and wondering what they are thinking about us and the world around them.

Bird Of Paradise reminds me of my sister and mother. they were so full of life and adventurous and we grew up with these flowers, along with bouganvilla and geraniums all over the yard.

Purple Iris. My mother loved iris and did several paintings that I now have. They remind me of my mother and also remind me of spring, my favorite season.
