High dose Vitamin C
Has anyone had this treatment for your cancer? I recently saw a naturopath and she recommended this 3 times a week for 3 months. I would love to do it but it is very expensive($15,000 for 3months)
I am wondering if anyone has had success with these infusions?? Thanks, Kathy |
Re: High dose Vitamin C
Kathy, a friend of mine did this when we were both dx twelve years ago instead of chemo. I'm sorry to say she was dx with bone mets some years ago and has been on and off chemo many times and is now in a clinical trial but thankfully showing a good response. I'd save my money if I were you.

Re: High dose Vitamin C
A friend who is just fininshing Kaydlac (sp) started seeing a nutritionist. She is recommending vitamin C infusions. My friend has had 2 recurrencences in 3 years. She will ask her oncologist before considering the vitamin c infusions. Nutritionists must still believe in the vitamin C.

Re: High dose Vitamin C
Hi Kathy
I'm sure I read something that suggested avoiding supplementing with Vit A, C & E particularly if triple positive. Also told recently that Vit B6 might be best avoided as well! I guess that they mean high dosages. After all we should be getting these through our food. I'm just concerned I take something & end up worse!! Although I do take VitD regularly as all research I have read recommends it!! Juls |

Re: High dose Vitamin C
I had a friend who was Her2 positive and tried high-dose vitamin C treatments, which got her nowhere except tumor spread and brain mets. This is prior to most of these new targeted options.

Re: High dose Vitamin C
Ask what the mechanism for killing cancer is. If you ask your oncologist that question about chemo or a HER2 drug he/she can give a one or two sentence explanation. Your naturopath should be able to do the same with anything he or she recommends. How does it find the cancer? What does it do to the cancer? What are the side effects?

There is alot of good information on using high dose IV Vitamin C out there. I have a neighbor diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer 9 years ago. Was diagnosed when she couldn't breathe as it was in her lungs. Two tumors in the abdomen that were the size of 5 lb Chuck roasts. Had chemo first. Then surgery and more chemo but got high dose IV C once a month the whole time with her oncs blessing. She goes to U Penn. She is not cured and is not doing very well now but it's been 9 years and she was loaded. I am not saying to do it but I am saying you should explore the option fully and make an informed decision |
