Re: Weight-bearing Exercise & Bone Metabolism among BC survivors

Penny,

I took them from the Her2 web site page with suggested links: http://her2support.org/resources/recommended-links

I have my own personal registration and password and am automatically logged on whenever I go to the site, so I never have tried using these.

Can anyone else confirm whether they work?

Hopeful

What I liked about the article

I was able to use the passwords and it worked. What was interesting to me was the mention of possible reduction of inflammation and why:

Changes in these bone markers were correlated with growth factors and cytokines. These correlations provide a biologic rationale for the positive effect of TCC on bone health, possibly through a reduction in inflammation, hence promoting bone formation. High-impact exercises such as weight-lifting, running, and jumping help preserve bone health but might not be suitable for cancer patients. Conversely, TCC is a low-impact exercise that uses slow, circular, fluid motions that are ideal for maintaining bone health in patients receiving treatment for breast cancer.
