new t-mcc-dm1 trial - anyone know more?

There is a new trial approved, but not yet open. I've been watching for it on cancer.gov - at one point it was supposed to open in July.... anyone know when it might open?

I couldn't get in to the other phase II trial that many of you are on, but I think I make qualify for this one when it opens. Although I think now I'd have to wait for my current treatment, taxol/avastin, to not be effective so I don't want that to be the case either!

Hi Pam- I know they've opened this trial in a few areas although they're not listed yet on clinicaltrials.gov. I am aware of a couple of people starting it right now in MO and MI. Contact the genentech representative on the clinicaltrials.gov listing and she should be able to tell you the closest place to you. I've been on the previous trial that is now closed since April- so far so good... Good luck!

Hi Pam,

Wondered what you have found out about the trial so far?

I talked to my trial coordinator today, and yes, the new trial is open but she didn't know where (except not at UCSF - which isn't a problem for you I'm sure!). As an aside, she also said they (at UCSF) were bummed because they could not add any more people to the other (current) trial because they are seeing great results. I hope you can find a way onto this new trial.

I don't think your current therapy would have to fail before you qualify for the new trial - you have had several treatments. Although of course you WANT your current therapy to work - and you never get off a winning horse!

[Most likely you have already got the answer; just thought I would post it here]

Thanks everyone for your information. I have not pursued this yet to see if it's now available to me in Minneapolis. The reason being that my current treatment is working (taxol/avastin). My ca2729 has come down to 161 from 602 since May. I guess I'll stay on this winning horse as long as makes sense - then hope I can get on this trial when I need it.

Great! Glad to hear the good news. I e-mailed the site and got a message back from a lady with a list of Texas physicians affiliated with the trial. She said to contact them directly to determine elegibility. She only provided names but the list on the site has e-mail addresses.
