Very interesting. Probably most on the board know this but Genistein, which the article says increases Epidermal Growth Factor is the active chemical in Soy. It is a weak estrogen and may be preventative of some breast cancers, but once the disease has manifested itself apparently it can be harmful

Paul is right about Genestein. However, the amount generally consumed in food has not been shown to be of concern. In fact, soy foods have been given the "green light" even in those with a history of estrogen positive cancer for up to 2 servings per day. Soy supplements, which are often high in Genestein, are not recommended because of this estrogen-like effect.

FOLKS YOU decide on ginseng's use as it's rather hard for me to condone or not, given the conflicting viewpoints.

Re: foods that block the EFGR deleterious enpathway

Ginseng would typically be prescribed by a practitioner of Chinese Medicine if it matches your body's pattern of imbalance. It has never matched mine so I haven't taken it in my herbal regime. Ginger, a different item entirely but also warming, on the other hand has mostly been fine though sometimes it has been counter-indicated.

I recommend consulting with qualified herbalists or practitioners of naturopathy before trying out herbs.
