Elevated liver enzymes

Hi HER-2ers!

It’s been a while since I posted something on this forum. Glad to see that this community is still strong and full of inspiring and amazing warriors!!

In a couple of weeks I’ll mark my 9th cancerversary, woohoo!! I went to my check up last week and my oncologist recommended I do a blood test and ultrasound to make sure everything was ok after I told her I got a period over Christmas after 4 months without one.

The results came back today. While everything is in order in the uterus/ovaries, my liver enzymes came back elevated at 100 (ALT) and 129 (AST). I’ve been on Tamoxifen for 8 1/2 years now. The nurse called me this afternoon and told me to stop the Tamoxifen and get a liver ultrasound. I’m hoping this is just due to the drug or fatty liver disease rather than liver mets. Has anyone had this happen?

Thank you so much!

Bejuce

Re: Elevated liver enzymes

Albumin 3.8 g/dL 3.4 - 4.8 g/dL
Total Bilirubin 0.9 mg/dL 0.2 - 1.2 mg/dL
Alkaline Phosphatase 165 U/L 35 - 140 U/L H
AST 55 U/L 14 - 36 U/L H
ALT 34 U/L 9 - 52 U/L

Thats from Kadcyla use after almost 2 yrs. Doc. is keeping me on it till the last
possible moment, so I don't run out of options. FIRST numbers are my results , the second set the normal to high range of what it should be.

I guess if you have been on anything for a period of time , it could or would affect the liver. I have to have blood work before I can get treatment now. So you may have
reached a toxic level without any cancer problems . BUT good to have everything
checked.

Thanks!! At this point it probably makes sense to stop Tamoxifen after so long. I’ll keep you posted!

I am just going thru elevated LFTs. Maybe I’ll be given an ultrasound like you and will just have fatty liver. I’ve not had liver mets but I’ve had bone and lung for 10+ years.
Glad you’re figuring it out!
