Bad scan confirms bad pet

Bonjour,
I just came back from my scan and it confirms all the bad points of the PET and indicates I have around 8 mets in the lungs+the rest. Did Navelbine protect me until I stopped in October? (in October the Pet was good and in January my liver MRI was ok).
I would like to get in a TDM1 trial. Thanks to Schoonder who provided the links I printed all the TDM1 trials in France to show my onc. It just says Paris or Marseille or Dijon so I do not know in what hospital but he should be able to know. I see him on Tuesday. It seems so far away.
But do you think I should fight for TDM1 now if I can get in a trial or try another chemo first? If you think I am wrong, please tell me. Love to all. Michka

Hi Michka,
I just got home from the biopsy and we are hoping that I will qualify for the Tdm-1 trial at my clinic. We will get the results Mon. or Tues. I had to have the biopsy to confirm the Her2 status for the trial.
I hope you are doing well and looking forward to the next phase of our journy's.
Best regards,
Emelie

Michka,
Please stay strong and try to distract yourself the best you can until Tuesday. It seems very far away but it is not. Do some things that you need to do (around the house, garage, yard, etc. and keep busy). i don't know the answer to your question so I will have to wait for others who are more experienced with these options to respond to you. But you are DOING something and are going to DO something that should help- that is the main thing I can ask you to focus on. It is good that you are in a major city. I will wait for other posts.
Best wishes,
karen z

So sorry, Michka.

As much as you can, try to stay in the Now and don't let anxiety rob you of your serenity. When you've done all you can (and your are doing that), then give yourself a break.

I would definately try to get the TDM-1...but if not, there are still other options for you...Gemzar is used alot for the Lungs and the Liver, also, Taxotere, Xeloda (oral)...there are many drugs yet that have not been used. Hoping you will try to free your mind of this until you see the Dr on Tuesday ...I know it is not easy, but you must remain positive ....at least now you know what the fight will be....it must get better from here. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for strength and the right doors to open. Sending a big hug across the ocean~~~

Re: Bad scan confirms bad pet

Oh, I can relate to bad scans confirming bad pets! It is so very discouraging. But as Sheila says, there are lots of treatment options and the right one will present itself to you. And there is no "wrong" decision, follow your intuition. What does your heart (or gut) say?

My personal thought is to try for a TDM1 trial, as it may be some time before it is available and it can work very well and is very tolerable. And as my onc says "you still have all the chemos" if you need to change. But the stats on TDM1 are remarkable, and it was very effective against my liver mets for a long time.

Take care
chris

Hang in there. As others have written it looks like there are still many choices available to you. Discuss various options with your oncologist when you are ready to talk. I hope you are able to relax and enjoy the weekend. Take good care of yourself.
