Risk of genetic seizure disorder: new scoring system
A Cleveland Clinic-led initiative has come up with a new risk scoring system for epileptic or seizure disorders of genetic origin. The researchers summed up the risks for a very large number of genes weakly implicated in some common forms of epilepsy, to create a polygenic risk score.

Everything is genetic but genes are relative. A lot of cases of epilepsy are due to head injuries. Still not everyone with the same degree of injury develops epilepsy afterward. If someone has a penetrating severe head injury to the skull into the brain about 50% of these people will develop epilepsy later on. Fifty percent is a very high percentage but why not 100%. This is where the genes come in
