Cellulitis
Going to emergency room tonight to get something to prevent the spread of this cellulitis. I hate lymphedema. Should I expect to be admitted? I do not have a fever, but in a lot of pain, major redness, hot to touch and major edema. Going in whenhusband comes home from school.

Sorry to hear this Laureen. Let us know how you are doing.
all the best caya |
Re: Cellulitis
You may or may not be admitted. It depends just how involved the celluititis and infection may be. Oh pooh. Do you know why it began - cut, burn, bug bite? If so, try to get one of your docs to give you a z-pak that you can use to prevent when you stick yourself with a diaper pin;) or get a slight sunburn or something.
I will be thinking about you |
Re: Cellulitis
Dear Laureen,
I do pray your er visit goes well for you and you find some relief for your arm. My Dad had it last summer (from Lung cancer) He needed IV antibiotics and only stayed in the hospital because he is in his 80's. If he was younger he could have done it at home. He felt perfectly fine all the while he was there and bored to tears. This is just one case. It does not have to be you. Around here they try everything to keep you out of the hospital! I'm sure you will be in good hands. Gods blessings to you and your family. Please know you are in my prayers. Your Friend, Nancy |

Re: Cellulitis
I was hooked to IV antibiotics for more than 2, 3 (a long time, I remember) hours when my cellulitis was diagnosed while undergoing chemotherapy in 2007. I was (a couple of weeks) later fitted with compression sleeve and glove (it started with a tiny bug bite on a finger of my right hand) when it's healed...
Not fun, but you should be OK... Will be thinking of you... Be sure to give us an update... |
Re: Cellulitis
Was in er for 5 hours. They gave me iv antibiotics. Said it is pretty nasty case, but since my fever was only 99, and I did not feel physically sick I could go home. Having lots of pain. The redness is fading, but swelling is not yet. I guess I should feel lucky that tgis us first case. I have had severe lymphedema for5 years nowq. I have tried everything except the lymph node transfer surgery that has procen to be not so successful. this cellulitis we think started because my husband was doing mld a little to vigiouresly. Thanks for all your well wishes
