Pregnancy after Her2+
 

Hi all,

I’ve just found out i’m pregnant, and although i’m really happy about it, I’m wondering has anyone gotten pregnant or known anyone who got pregnant after her 2 breast cancer and all been well? I had surgery in June 2017 followed by chemo, herceptin etc. Thanks

I don't think the HER 2 Neu plus is that important as far as pregnancy goes. What is more important is how estrogen positive you are and possibly how progesterone positive. Even if you are ER + and or PR+ there may be risk, particularly ER+. How much risk I cant say. That is between you and your oncologist. The ultimate decision is up to you. Everything in life seems to be weighing risk vs benefit.

i’m hormone negative, just freaked out today. I live in Ireland and there’s not much information on young women getting pregnant after my situation.

Liliput I also live in Ireland, fourteen and a half year survivor of highly triple pos IDC with three nodes positive. I also moderate a closed group on Facebook for the susan g komen group and there are a couple of ladies there fighting cancer now and pregnant. However we had a member here that went on to have a couple of children and is still doing well, I think her name was Laurel and I may still be in touch with her via Facebook. Feel free to look for me there and I can add you as a friend if you like and in the meantime I'll check and see if Laurel is still posting and may have advice for you.

Liliput,

I do not know about the risks of pregnancy post BC, but I do want to congratulate you on your pregnancy. Sometimes I just think to myself in times of indecision and the unknown, "God, you've got this. Please show up and show off for me!" I will keep you in my prayers and hope for the very best outcome!

Liliput, if you call the Irish cancer society helpline their nurse's give some great advice and can help you too.
