Diagnosed at age 41 in October 2000 with invasive ductal carcinoma via a lumpectomy. Had felt the lump for about 2 months without doing anything about it; had a clear mammo about 6 months prior -I was always very cystic and every other lump and bump I always ran immediately to the doctor and got a mammo!! Right breast - tumor was 2 cm. ER+;PR+;Her2 3; Grade 3. Sentinal node biopsy 2 weeks after lumpectomy - 0/4 nodes; Stage I; 4 A/C treatments; 35 radiation treatments; now on Tamoxifen; onc said no herceptin for Stage I - the risks are too high however I understand that may have changed some Stage I patients are now getting Herceptin. NED so far but every ache and pain and lump and bump always brings up the fear although it has lessened with time. I've been blessed so far; hope we are all blessed in the future.
