Re: Herceptin/Tykerb clinical trial for early stage

Hello all. I am new to all of this. Just diagnosed with early stage DCIS HER+. I had my first lumptectomy on 6/21 and one margin was not clear, so had that surgery on Monday 7/21. Still awaiting my phone call to hopefully hear that my margins are all clear this time. I have also been told to join the trial for herceptin. I am understanding I will only need 2 doses... I do not have all of my info at my fingertips but wanted to jump in here. I wish all of you luck and will try to keep tabs now!! Especially since I would only have a few doses of the Herceptin, it does not sound like anyone has had many side effects and most sound like they are taking the drug for longer periods.

I met with my Oncologist yesterday and will begin TCH in the next two weeks. My medical team prefers this form of treatment over AC. My team indicated that the results of the research indicate that TCH is just as beneficial as AC but with less side effects.
